The Yamaha UX3 shares everything from the U3 plus the addition of upgraded hammerheads as used on the C3, C5 conservatory model grand pianos and an X braced radial backpost design and high grading of wood. Although the X braced radial backpost design is boroughed from the German Grotrian upright piano it increases the general tone and sustain compared to the U3. Orchestra pits where a popular resting place for UX3's as their tone was big and powerful yet fitted in the pit where grands wouldn't. The inclusion of sound channels on the front casework gives greater volume and a more immersive experience for the performer.
The Yamaha UX3 Upright Piano is a professional piano, and would suit someone who was looking for the sound of a grand piano but needed a more compact size of piano.
