+Jam Space Launches NZ's First Peer to Peer Music Gear Hire Platform

Jam Space has created a trusted platform for you to rent out your gear to other musos and make cash fast!

The world is heading more and more towards an on-demand market. In a time where people share their homes, cars, investments and even their savings - we wanted to make it easier for kiwi musicians to be able to hire what they want, when they want it. On the other hand, we also want you to be able to make money whilst helping other musos achieve their goals.

We see a future where kiwis can find & hire any piece of gear they want for whichever dates they want, and to book it online right here on Jam Space.

Imagine, never having to lug your amps and cabinets in long road trips or paying for excess baggage on flights for your next tour! What about using a variety of gear for your next EP or Album without having to front the purchase costs just for that one recording!

We believe this is not only possible but we have created the place where you can do it right now! We have just launched the new Gear Hire section and we need YOU to list more and more so our music community can find what they need, when they need, plus you will make moolah doing so!

The listing process is painless and easy. You can do it on mobile or desktop. We even have a handy price slider bar to show you what price the market will be likely to rent your gear out at. We do recommend following some safe-renting practices here to ensure you and your gear are safe.

Help us create the future of music gear hire on-demand and let it start right here in New Zealand!

+Peer to Peer Gear Hire - Safe Practices

The world is heading more and more towards an on-demand market. In a time where people share their homes, cars, investments and even their savings - we wanted to make it easier for kiwi musicians to be able to hire what they want, when they want it.

These advances always come with some safety risk and it is necessary to have security and insurance measures in place. We want Jam Space to be a trusted and safe place for you to jam.

Here are some top tips from the Team at Jam Space when hiring your gear to others:

Accurate listing details and condition of items.

Remember to list all characteristics and condition of your item accurately in the listing. When hiring off someone make notes and write down any scratches or marks and get the party you are renting off to sign off on those notes.

Get a Contact phone# and Photo ID.

Always get the renter’s contact details and a quick photo on your phone of the renter’s driver’s licence or passport (valid photo ID).

Request a Bond.

If the item you are renting is very expensive then we always recommend you request a reasonable bond. This will cover for any minor damages or late returns but also ensure you get serious, trusted renters.

Insure all your gear.

Check with your insurance company and make sure all your gear is covered.

Beware of fake goods.

If you do see items that are not as they are advertised then please report it to Jam Space immediately.

Add a serial number of your item.

When listing there is an option to add a serial number of your item. We do not display this to renters, we keep this for your security in our records.

Request payment upfront.

Do not lend gear without receiving payment and bond first.

Check the renters Jam Space member rating.

The more successful Jam Space trades and reviews a member has the less likely they are to be dodgy!

We look forward to helping you achieve all your musical goals. Safe Jamming!

+Download Festival Confirms Melbourne 2018

Download Festival Confirms 2018 Australian Event & Details

Forget the rumours, forget the speculation, it's now all very real — Download Festival is officially coming to Australia in 2018.

With the official website going live this morning, it has been confirmed that Live Nation, Unified and Secret Sounds will bring the UK-founded rock festival to Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse on Saturday 24 March.

The full line-up will not be announced until next Thursday (9 November), however it is understood that the bill will feature 28 bands in total, with 1/3 being local acts, across four stages.

Though the Australian debut will only be a one-day event, the intention is to expand each year to eventually become a national-touring festival.

It's also believed that the upcoming line-up will reflect the one-day event, however as Download continues to grow in Australia, it will become more in line with the UK festival.

Speaking to Herald Sun, Live Nation's Nigel Melder said he wants the festival to be "sustainable" and hosed down speculation that Soundwave founder AJ Maddah was attached to Download Festival in Australia.

"AJ Maddah is not involved, AJ never was," Melder said.

Melder also addressed the website for the event accidentally going live last week.

"Did it make my job harder? Yes. But look at the passion of these fans, imagine if nobody cared?" he said.

"These fans are invested."

Keep your eye on theMusic.com.au for more details as they become available.

The announcement comes just one week after booker and event co-founder Andy Copping confirmed Download will be heading our way in 2018.
